Two or 3 years ago my older brother got a MP3 Player for Christmas: Philips GoGear SA1330 1 GB . To this time I was convinced that I dont need such electronic things because I had my hi-fi at home. But before I went abroad last year to do some travelling I asked my brother if I can borrow his MP3 Player because I cant live without music. Of course my lovely brother said yes and since then I own it :) (but he never complained cause he doesnt need it anymore). DESIGN: When I saw Philips GoGear SA1330 in my brothers hands my first impression was more then positive. It looks so stylish!!! As you can see at the picture on top of this page the MP3 Player is slim, small, deep black, has a blank high quality material with less notable buttons, a halfway silvery fringe with a button to lock, an elegant mirror surface with a small silvery function pad and the specular lettering of the product. On the backside are just a few general information and a button to press and slide to connect the direct USB with your PC and charge the battery, so it cant be easily defiled. Width: 3.2 cm Depth: 1.5 cm Height: 8.1 cm Weight: 40 g GENERAL INFORMATION: Philips GoGear SA1330 is a digital player that is flash based and has a capacity of 1 GB with following product features: - Built-in Display: OLED - two-colour (monochrome) - MP3 and WMA playback - Folder view - Voice recorder - Equalizer (Funk, Hip Hop, Dance, Rock, Jazz, Classic) - Playback modes (A-B repeat, repeat shuffle, repeat all, repeat folder, random play / shuffle, one track repeat) - Scroll speed - Delete options - General settings (clock function, power save, screen saver, sleep timer, resume, language, factory settings, information) - Amplifier - Battery level indication - Hold button - Digital volume control - Upgradeable firmware - Capacity: 300 mAh - Run time (Up To): 12 hour(s) - Recharge time: 4 hour(s) - OS Required: Microsoft Windows XP SP2 or later - USB 2.0 compatibility I think for my first digital media player it has a lot functions which are easy to control. MY EXPERIENCES: For me it is very important that technology is simple to use and thatswhy I am convinced of this product. With the small function pad on front you can easily switch on and off the player, control the volume and choose the tracks. Function buttons on top are marked and you can simply follow the instruction (e.g. the classy recorder) but also the rest of the menu is easily understandable and the folder view helps to sort tracks. Options like equalizer or playmodes are good additional features to make the sound perfect but also without these additions it has a high quality on playing songs. A great idea is the hidden USB that I press and slide to plug it on my PC and then I can easily charge my MP3 Player or connect it to save or delete music documents as well as I can hear music files on my PC which are saved on the player. Windows XP will install it automatically through "Plug & Play". A great invention to create a stylish design and preserve from harm. My experience with the running time is that the battery runs up to 10 hours or more. That is quite good when you charge it for 3 or 4 hours. And if its nearly empty you just plug it on the next PC and the battery is full again for the next few hours. I think 1GB memory space is enough for people who listen to some tracks but with not so much different albums. After a while I recognized that I only can save 6 or 7 albums and this can be a bit too few when you are such a big music fan like I am. Last but not least another few words to the design. I think the MP3 Player looks very elegant and trendy with its bubbly colorful screensaver, is absolutely compact and convinces through simplicity but there is one thing I have to complain about and that is the mirror surface itself. On daytime and outside the house it is most often not possible to identify anything of the display and that is something that mustnt happen in my opinion. ADDITIONAL INFO: If you buy this product via internet or in a shop you generally get a whole package including: - Philips GoGear SA1330 1 GB - Neck strap - Software: Drivers & Utilities, Microsoft Windows Media Player 10 - 1 x USB cable - 1 x headphones ( mini-phone stereo 3.5 mm ) RESULT: I rate Philips GoGear SA1330 1 GB with 4 STARS because it is a GOOD product that I recommend to people who are not that familiar with MP3 Player but want to buy a high qualitiy product with lots of features, good price-performance ratio and an easy-use menu, hidden USB plug as well as a precious design. Although Philips GoGear SA1330 seems excellent the product disappointed me through the display which is not identifiable on high solar radiation and that is very annoying. But all in all definitively recommendable! |
