Genius, the name is the motto! I bought my Genius MC-20 from Scott in January. Bikes are cheaper right after Christmas and in the winter time ;-) I paid 2300 pound. design Not compareable. The bike looks great and feels great while riding it. The parts are the following, mostly from Shimano, the world wide leading bike company and Scott. Weight: 12.0 kg Frame: Genius MC Carbon CR1 technology ILS kinematic 3D custom butted 6061 alloy Swingarm 130mm rear travel Fork: Fox 32 Talas RL 3 Travel position lockout & reb. A. 100-120-140mm travel Shock (Rear): Scott TC 3 modus LO-TC-AT reb. Adj. remote control Headset: Ritchey pro 1 1/8" semi integrated 44/50mm Derailleur (Rear): Shimano XTR RD-M971 27 Speed Derailleur (Front): Shimano XT FD-M760E E-Type Shifters: Shimano XT SL-M760 Rapidfire Plus 2 way release w/gear indicator Brake Levers: Shimano XT BL-M765 Disc Brakes: Shimano XT BR-M765 Disc 180/F & 160/R mm CL RT62A Rotor Crankset: Shimano XT FC-M760 hollowtech 2 44Ax32Ax22A T BB-Set: Shimano Cartridge shell 73mm&E Handlebar: Ritchey Carbon Pro oversize 31.8mm 15mm Rise 650 mm H'stem: Scott MC pro 4 bolt Clamp 1-1/8" /6° angle Pedals: Shimano PD-M540 Clipless pedal Seatpost: Scott RC 03-20 34.9mm Seat: Selle Italy SLR XP Kevlar / Vanox rails Hub (Front): DT Swiss Disc XR1 CL Hub (Rear): DT Swiss Disc XR1 CL Chain: Shimano CN-HG53 Cassette: Shimano XT CS-M760 11-32 T Spokes: DT Swiss Disc XR1 Rims: DT Swiss Disc XR1 28H Black Tires: Scott Stroke 2 26 x 2.3 / 120TPI Kevlar Bead dual compound 60a / 50a The TC System is adjustable from the handbar out. A small switch gives you 3 options. The "Lockout" blocks the buffer for steep uphill trips, the "Traction" (80mm) is just perfekt for an way just kind of out of roots and the "All Travel" (130 mm) softens even the hardest downhill trip. Also the breaks and gear-switches are together as a DC (Dual Control) So you are able to switch gear and break which is quite good for uneven trails. So I said the Durability is excellent. Till now we did some backcountry tours and it worked fine, didn't show any problems with the moveable parts all other are well fasten. As each bike you should clean it with a water and dry it with a soft towel. Also never forget to grease it! Also all cables are hidden, so after a long dirty tour, everything is still working! This bike hasn't a full suspension, where the shock is in the frame. These bikes are kind of whipping while riding and you have losses on the power transmission and it doesn't work very well with the small or the big chain ring. The Genius MC-20 has a rear shock which is situated between rear wheel and frame. That offers the opportunity to switch the center depending on biker and terrain. The ILS (Intelligent Linkage System) relocate the center on uphill-tours in a deeper position, on downhill-tours in an higher position. The wipping effekt is missing (who cares) and you've a direct power transmission. results The bike is just right for great trips in the backcountry. My friends and me practicing for an alp crossing next year. This is the perfect bike for such a tour. So I hope the review helps you for making your decision! |
