If you haven`t tried Baileys Irish Cream yet, you definitely missed out one of the most exciting liqueurs ever. What is it and what is it like? It is a unique blend of fresh Irish dairy cream, Irish whisky and natural flavours. It has a rich, creamy and smooth taste and contains 17%/ vol. When you open the bottle you`ll notice a light whiskey smell but also a sweet aroma. Unlike pure Whisky this drink tastes sweet. It`s consistency is creamy and slightly thicker than a normal spirit. How can you drink it? The probably most popular way of enjoying Baileys is Baileys over Ice. It is easy to make and extremely tasty. You just place 2 or 3 large ice cubes in a glass and then pour some Baileys over the ice. You then wait a good few minutes for the ice to start to chill the drink. As the ice melts there`s a slight change in colour and the Baileys goes slightly lighter. Finally you gently swirl the glass around to ensure the whole drink is chilled and ... enjoy. There are many more ways of drinking this tasty liqueur. I myself love a nice cuppa coffee with a sip if Baileys and some vanilla ice cream. Yummy! You can also prepare a Baileys milkshake. Therefore you just put 1or 2 shots of Baileys, a glass of milk, some chocolate ice cream and some rum and vanilla essence in a blender/smoothie maker. The result is a refreshing, sweet and creamy drink which you serve in a tall glass. Of course, you can also use it to prepare food. I`ve poored Baileys over nearly every cake. It is best with pancakes or cheese cake though. Nutrition Facts As you can tell from the ingredients already Baileys Irish Cream is quite a rich drink. 1.3 oz (average serving size) contains: Calories 120 Total Fat 6 g Total Carbs 7 g Sugars 6 g Protein 0 g Price, Size and how to store it ... The label on the back of the bottle tells us to store this liqueur between 5 to 25 degrees. There are a total of 17 UK units contained in the bottle which is usually 1l. There`s a wide price range for Baileys. A 1l bottle costs 17.49 quid if you buy it at Tesco or Sainsbury`s. A 35 cl bottle is about 7-8 quid here. I usually buy mine at ASDA. There you get a 1l bottle for 12.98. Overall I can recommend this drink to anyone that prefers drinks less harsh than whiskey but still wants to have a slight whiskey flavour. Enjoy! |
