I bet you all know these hot days in summer when you are nearly roasting and you just need a break. For those times I meet my friends for a salad and a cider. My favourite would be Bulmers, which has the one and only taste of fesh, cold apple wine. General Information: Firstly to prevent confusion: BULMERS Original Vintage Cider is produced in Ireland and not comparible with the British cider which has the same name. Thatswhy Bulmers is sold outside of Ireland as MAGNERS Original Irish Cider. When I first tried both of them I couldn't taste a difference, now I know that there is no difference because it is the SAME cider!!! The Bottle: Bulmers and Magners are being produced in a brown flask with a white/yellow/green coloured logo and with one of the two labels, which is pointed out. It also has a small red stripe which accentuates the Irish origin. In my point of view, it looks very adressing (a bit like a bottle of beer) and definitively as an well known brand which produces good quality. Magners and Bulmers are available in 330 ml, pint, litre and 750 ml bottles as well as 500 ml cans, and is traditionally served over ice. Some Irish bars also serve it from draught but most of them in bottles. Generally you get Magners all over Europe and in US, that a very good export trade for the Irish company. The Taste: It is comparible with any other apple wine but still has its own taste. The cider has a strong apple taste and a bit of wine so you wouldn´t really taste the wine first. Because the production of cider is very simple and based on natural ingredients it is healthier then any other alcoholic drinks and that is a big plus in my opinion. Especially served with ice it is such a relief to drink it after a hard day or just as a starter when you are out, it is very refreshing and that is the keypoint what makes it so special in comparison to other ciders. Others: Magners and Bulmers have an alcohol content of 4.5 per mille, that is still good for an alcoholic drink. Price for one bottle (568ml) at Tesco: £1.69 Result: I highly recommend this product for its refreshing effect, full taste and great price ---> 5 stars |
