In January 2008 my old mp3-player broke down. I told my friends that I was looking for a new one that had to be smaller and more convenient. As a result I got the Apple iPod shuffle Second Generation as a birthday present. Design This is a tinier version of the stylish iPod shuffle generation. It is slighly smaller than a match box and therefore fits into every pocket. Even better: With its built- in clip it easily clips onto your clothes. The Shuffle has an anodized aluminum shell which is told to be very durable. It comes with Apple earbuds and a USB-dock. There are several colour options to choose from (e.g. orange, bright blue, pink) I got the green one as it is my favourite colour. How (well) does it work? The Shuffle plugs into the docking station and the other end plugs into your USB slot on your computer. You then need to download the latest version of iTunes from the Apple Web site for music management. This Shuffle (as all iPods) supports MP3, WAV, AIFF, Audible, and AAC files. Itunes also has a big shop where you can download songs for money. The iPod Shuffle 2nd Generation has 1GB memory capacity what is around 240 songs. The sound is very clear and its volume is loud enough to drown out almost every side noise. A full charge does last around 12 hours as advertised, and it takes 2-4 hours to charge it from a dead battery. My Experience with it I had an ordinary mp3-player with a build- in display before. A screen is more convenient as you always know the title played and you can directly choose which song you wan`t to listen to. A pair of tiny lights on the top and bottom let you know what the device is doing, though. I didn`t have any problems to familiarise with this iPod as there are only 5 main buttons: A 4-way ring-shaped button controls track skip and volume. A large button in the center is for play/pause. On the bottom of the player there's an on/off switch and another switch for shuffle/normal playback/ normal playback with repeat. The bottom line: This device is convenient, easy to use and comes at a reasonable price (I got mine for 40 quid on offer). If you don`t mind the „missing“ screen, it is alright for you. |
