Indeed, I love biscuits! All kinds … burbons, custard creams, shortbread, digestives, chocolate chip biscuits and so on and so on. They are all just great. Why- might some of you guys wonder- does she write a review about ‘Rich Tea Biscuits’ then? There are much more exciting and tastier ones than these plain tea biscuits … biscuits with all kinds of flavour, various fillings and coatings. Well, this might be due to the fact that these plain and to some of you seemingly unexciting biscuits were the only ones in my grand-grandma`s cupboard years ago. Every weekend we went to my granny for a cup of tea and … ‘Rich Tea Biscuits’. I don`t think they were MCVities but honestly, I don`t think there are that many differences among the ‘Rich Tea Biscuits. However, I`m gonna orientate my review on the MC Vities ones. What are they good for? Dunking, of course. The Rich tea can drive even the most insistent anti-dunker to dunk. Together with a nice cuppa tea or coffee Rich Tea cakes develop their full flavour. What do they look and smell like? MC Vities are round, about 8cm in diameter and half a cm in thickness. They are a golden brown colour and they have several tiny holes bored into the surface. As soon as you open the wrapper, a nice buttery aroma wafts up your nose. It always reminds me of bakeries and freshly baked, homemade biscuits. Just wonderful! What about the taste? ‘Rich Tea Biscuits’(MCVities) are not particularly sweet. They have a very nice buttery taste and they leave a slight malty taste in your mouth. In terms of its texture, the biscuit is quite dry and very crunchy. Nutrition Information per biscuit: 38 calories 0.6g of protein 5.9g of carbohydrate 1.3g of fat less than 0.1g of sodium. I`d say that that compared to other biscuits, these values are actually quite good. Packaging: The biscuits come in a half dark blue and half light blue wrapper with the McVities logo printed across the front in white lettering. To the right of this is a picture of one of the biscuits with some crumbs next to it. The plastic wrapper helps to keep the biscuits fresh and crunchy. Price: A 300g packet costs 52p at Tesco, Asda, Morrisons and Sainsburys. Each packet contains 36 biscuits. So this is excellent value for money! Summary: I think it is for just that simplicity MCVities Rich Tea Biscuits are so convincing. Furthermore they are cheap, low in calories and last but not least: They are great dunking biscuits. Whether you dunk `em or munch them away while watching the evening news- they are extremely enjoyable! |
