Introduction: To tell it in advance: VauDe Tonga Wheeled Duffel Bag is a travelling bag, no trolley case or hardside polypropylene shell. That is very important to know because all different kinds of luggage have pros and cons. I want to share my experiences with you about the multilateral travelling bag. Label and Design: VAUDE is a German producer of mountain sports equipment, founded in 1974 by Albrecht von Dewitz. The name of the firm is derived from the initials of its founder (V, D). Products are among other things tents, backpacks and sleeping bags. 60 % of turnover is made in Germany. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VAUDE) Because VauDe produces mountain sports equipment which has to be very wear-resistant, I also think positive about their bags which is made of the same material Tarpolin. VauDe Tonga is very versatile in terms of using it as a trolley OR travelling bag that you can grab in your hands or put over your shoulder. The bag looks very modern (not necessarily for all age groups) and is available is different colours and materials: Tarpolin: mocca/cream, red/cream, black/cream, orange/cream Diamond Polyester: mocca/iceblue, black/anthracite, berry/rosewood print, stone/moss and stone/oceanprint. Features: - 2 different materials available: Tarpolin, Diamond Polyester - Size: 61cm x 36cm x 28cm - Linear centimeters: 125cm - Capacity: 60 litres - Weight: 3,6 kg - Main pocket with dividing sheet, lashing straps and net - Mechanism to lock the zipper - Various sideways zippered pockets - Pull-out telescope - Smooth-running skater wheels - Reinforced floor - Carrying handles - Removable shoulder strap with slide-stop shoulder pad - Integrated tag for name and address Utilization: I am using VauDe Tonga for nearly all kind of travelling, for long distances or short trips. I think the mid-sized travelling bag is perfect for the plane (very robust) and car (space-saving) in opposite to a suitcase. You can put much content into it, so its very flexible with space. Different pockets allow you to organize your luggage, whereat you have small pockets as well as the main part, which is also devided into 2 parts and equipped with a net that bits and pieces can not be lost. I for example use the sideway pocket for my flight tickets. You also can open the ground of the bag to reach the rod system and at the same time to use it as a hidden safe for stocks. The way to or from airport is sometimes stocked with barriers. Thatswhy I am pleased that VauDe has provided the bag with carrying handles and shoulder straps. Very good is the weight (3,6 kg) for believe it or not 60 l. Many airlines have a limit of 20 kg for luggage and therefore you need a lightweight bag to put as much things into as possible to do not top this limit. I think 3,6 kg are great for that size. I also like the fact that you can combine the zipper from the main pocket with a wee lock. It is very important for me to feel safe that nothing important can be stolen. Very nice is the integrated tag for your name and address in case that I lost it. So you dont have to buy an extra one. By now I had no problems with my travelling bag by Vaude and I used it very often so far. The material seems very resilient and that is the most important fact for me. Result: I gave VauDe Tonga Wheeled Duffel Bag 5 stars because it complies all important criteria for me on a travelling bag. The price (100.00£) is justified for such an equipment and quality. |
