	Great, Greater, Greatest...  Review Review from maryodonnell, September 2008 Pros: everything Cons: nothing The Smashing Pumpkins are a very popular American alternative rock band. They formed in Chicago, Illinois in 1988, broke up in 2000 due to internal fighting, drug use and diminishing sales and finally reunited in 2006. Throughout the '90s they were one of the most commercially successful bands. They used a mixture of prog-rock, dream-pop, psychedelia and heavy metal to win their audience over. Greatest Hits was released in 2001 after the band broke up. It features a decades work from the bands first album Gish to their last, Machina / the machines of God.
