Expect the Expected

Eurosport's tennis expert Simon Reed predicts routine progressions for the big two as the men's semi-finals take centre stage.
Looking ahead to the men's semis, there's only one way I can see it going, and it culminates in a Roger Federer v Rafael Nadal final.

Marat Safin's done really well, and he played superbly against Novak Djokovic, but I just can't see him getting past Federer.

Three years ago he survived a match point when the pair played out a fantastic semi-final in Melbourne, and went on to win the Australian Open. After that he disappeared into the wilderness, but he's fought his way back.

Federer is in another league, however, and I expect him to stroll through in straight sets.

As for Nadal, he's been out of this world in this tournament. He not only gets better with every year, but with every match. His win against Andy Murray was his best performance yet.

Rainer Schuettler, meanwhile, has had the worst possible preparation in the form of a five-setter and it would truly be one of the great shocks in Wimbledon history if he won through.

The Wimbledon crowd are a little deflated after Murray's loss, but I get the feeling they're backing Nadal to win here. There's a sense of the championship needing a fresh winner and he's the man they're behind.

As for the all-Williams affair that is the women's final, I'm sticking to my guns with Serena.

She's won the previous five finals between the sisters, and seemed to step up her game during her semi-final defeat of Zheng Jie on Thursday.

Hopefully the crowd will give us a great atmosphere for the final. The last two have been pretty quiet, but I have a feeling we'll get some noise on Saturday.
