Heartbreaking Love Stories

This goes to those of us who love lovestories ;) A little bit of an outing, I know. Just yesterday I went to the video shop and somehow I couldn't stop me. Right there, in front of the romantic section I found myself yelling to my boyfriend: "Darling, how about a romantioc movie tonight?" I suppose I don't have to tell you about HIS reaction. I think he just pretended not to know me ;))



But I know deep down inside he likes to see me crying about heartbreaking love stories!



Ok, I'll make the first move:

Yesterday we watched "My Blueberry Nights" with Jude Law (sexiest man ever!) and Norah Jones. It's not this type of love stories you've seen a hundred times in movies.

First of all, the two main characters see each other only at the beginning and at the end of the movie, because SHE travels and works in different places for almost a year, when their only connection are her regular postcards to him, while HE tries to reach her desperatly! so romantic!!



I loved to accomany HER on her journey through America, where she gets to know some very sad and interesting characters. Theses little extra-stories make the salt and pepper in every movie! Anmd you'll see a lot of them in "My Blueberry Nights"!



I also liked the colours - reminded me of "Amelie"... and the fotography. I think Norah Jones did a good job in her forst movie - and of course her music underlines the movie's mood just perfectly fine.

The Holiday

yesterday I watched another romantic movie recommended by a friend who promised this one to be an atypical hollywood movie....it is a bout two women who want to escape their daily life disappointed by men. Cameron Diaz's role is the one of a successfull trailor director, her husband has just cheated on her and she decides to spend christmas on her own in england. there she finds a house in the middle of nowhere whose owner Cate Winslet tries to fall out of love with her colleage. They switch houses: Cameron Diaz - used to her huge house equipped with all technical highlights and comfortabvle extras you can imagine - seems to go crazy in this tiny but cosy lonesome house in England, meanwhile Cate Winslet freaks out with her luxurious holiday-accomodation and easily gets to know the most interesting person in the neighbourhood: an 80 years old ex-writer who has worked all his life in Hollywoodand. They immediately make friends and both gain enormously from this friendship.

But there are not only 80 years old men ;) one of the younger unexpected visitors is JUDE LAW...another Jack Black. It is a romantic movie, so maybe you can already imagine what happens ...well, in my opinion it IS a typical hollywood love story and right from the start you can guess what will happen in the end. but still it's a really sweet story which will warm your heart and is perfect for a lazy sunday evening ;)
